Hello, hello. I hope you are well.
I find it funny how the films that have been sitting in my watchlist for ages, are those that are now my favorite. It’s quite confusing for me. Films that are outlandishly popular and those that hardly get any recognition are the category of movies that I take the longest to watch. Strange.
Anywho, I have curated a short list of films that range from popular to lesser known. Hence, if you have been hesitant in watching any of these or wish to find something new, here you go.

Films that made me feel alive
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013)
A film made for the daydreamer. Walter Mitty escapes to his fantasies, often an idealised version of a moment in his life or a quality of his own. While it might seem like the usual ‘ordinary characters turn their life into something no longer ordinary’, there’s something fresh and comforting about the story of Walter Mitty. Simplicity, beauty in the little moments and absolutely cinematic.
A film about nostalgia, while evoking it. Midnight in Paris is about a screenwriter who has a longing for 1920s Paris, until he miraculously escapes to it at midnight. The film encapsulates the alluring nature of the past, the beauty of Paris and nostalgia at its core. A warm and comforting watch.
When a three-person crew embark on a mission to space, they are faced with a very difficult choice when another passenger appears unexpectedly on their ship. A gripping tale of human morals and beautiful cinematography capturing space.
This is a film about a fox who finds himself returning to his old criminal ways, finding himself trapped alongside his family, when the farmers retaliate. This is a beautiful story about family, acceptance and the excruciatingly painful feeling of wanting to be more.
After finding a yeti on her roof, three friends embark on a journey to reunite this creature with its family, all the while threatened by those who want otherwise. Alongside being a beautiful story, the intertwining of nature and magic is portrayed in a magnificent way. Quite an underrated animation.
This film will fill the hollow to create another. La La Land is about two dreamers who are drawn to one another, until the persistence of success and the rise of it threatens their relationship. It is about love, ambition and the tension between dreams and practicality.
‘That's all.’ (The Devil Wears Prada, 2006)
I hope June has been treating you phenomenally, you beautiful soul and I hope you enjoyed this latest blog post (I intend to get better at this).
Sincerely,
